JEE Main 2025 counselling has begun on 3 June  2025.  The counseling notification is released on the official website of JoSAA (josaa.nic.in.).  The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is the authorised body which Organized JEE Main counselling for admission to NITs, IIITs Or other GFTIs along with some other Joining colleges. Students can register through the official website  for JoSAA 2025 counselling up to 3 June 2025.

JEE Main 2025 is a  computer-based test held nationwide for engineering entrance examinations Organized in India through the National Testing Agency (NTA). It is a crucial gateway for students aspiring to pursue undergraduate courses in engineering (B.E./B.Tech), architecture (B.Arch), and planning (B.Planning) at various prestigious institutions across the country.

JEE Main 2025, Earlier known as AIEEE, was introduced in 2002. AIEEE was later changed  to JEE Main in 2013, with IIT- JEE Substance Changed to JEE Main Advanced. JEE Main 2025 syllabus is based on the NCERT Class 11 and 12 curricula, covering Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

Eligibility Criteria for JEE Main 2025:

Educational QualificationStudents must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination in 2023 or 2024, or be appearing in 2025.

JEE Main 2025 syllabus:

The JEE Main 2025 syllabus is based on the NCERT Class 11 and 12 curricula, covering Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The NTA releases the official syllabus, which may have minor modifications from previous years.

  • Physics: Includes topics from Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Electrodynamics, Optics, Modern Physics, Oscillations and Waves, etc.
  • Chemistry: Separate in  Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or Inorganic Chemistry.
  • Mathematics: Cover package , Relations or purpose, Complex Numbers, Quadratic Equations, Matrices, Determinants, Permutations and Combinations, Binomial Theorem, Sequences or Series, Calculus (Limit, Continuity,Mathematics, Fundamental Calculus, Differential Equations), Coordinate Geometry, Three-Dimensional Geometry, Vector Algebra, Statistics and Probability, and Trigonometry.
  • Paper 2 (B.Arch/B.Plan):
    • B.Arch: Mathematics, Aptitude Test, and Drawing Test.
    • B.Plan: Mathematics, Aptitude Test, and Planning Test.

Exam Pattern (General):JEE Main 2025 

  • Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech): Includes three sections: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Specific part has two parts: Section A (20 Multiple Choice Questions with single correct answer) and Section B (10 Numerical Value Questions, out of which 5 are to be attempted).
  • Paper 2A (B.Arch): Includes three sections: Mathematics (Part-I), Ability Test (Part-II), and Drawing Test (Part-III).
  • Paper 2B (B.Planning): Divided three parts: Mathematics (Part-I), Ability Test (Part-II), Or Planning Test (Part-III).
  • Grade System: +4 scores for every right answer or -1 mark for every Wrong answer (negative marking for MCQs). There is no negative marking for numerical value questions (Section B).

Options after Seat Allotment: JEE Main 2025 

  • Freeze: Students accept the Allocation seat or do not wish to participate in further circles.
  • Float: Candidate accepts the allotted seat but wishes to be considered for a better preferred course/institute in subsequent rounds.
  • Slide: Candidate accepts the allotted seat but wishes to be considered for a better preferred course within the same institute in subsequent rounds.

Documents Required: Keep all necessary documents (JEE Main/Advanced admit card, mark sheets, category certificates, medical certificate, etc.) ready for online upload and verification.

Candidates need to Produce the following documents ready for the counselling process:

  • Provisional JoSAA seat allotment letter
  • Two passport-size photographs (same as uploaded in JEE Main/Advanced form)
  • Candidate Undertaking (as per JoSAA format)
  • Photo ID (Aadhar card, school ID, PAN card, etc.)
  • JEE Main/Advanced Admit Card
  • Proof of Seat Approval charge withdrawal (e-challan or net banking)
  • Class 10 mark sheet and any official proof of date of birth
  • Class 12 mark sheet and passing certificate
  • Medical certificate in the prescribed format
  • Category certificate (if applicable – SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS)
