Information Technology (IT) — Covers networking, databases, web technologies, information security, software development, and system design. Closely related to CSE with slightly more accessible cutoffs while offering similarly strong placement outcomes.

Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) — Covers digital electronics, VLSI design, signal processing, embedded systems, communication systems, and IoT. Suitable for students interested in both hardware and software career paths.

Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) — Covers power systems, electrical machines, control systems, renewable energy, and industrial electronics. The most accessible branch by cutoff at MSIT, ideal for those interested in core electrical engineering careers.

B.Tech Lateral Entry (3 Years)

The B.Tech Lateral Entry programme is open for diploma holders through the IPU CET Lateral Entry exam, allowing direct entry into the second year of the B.Tech programme. This is an excellent route for diploma engineers who want a full engineering degree without starting from scratch. Scimago IR

Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology Admission 2026-27 Eligibility Criteria

B.Tech (Regular)

Students must have passed Class XII of the 10+2 pattern of CBSE or equivalent with a minimum aggregate of 55% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, with the condition that the candidate has passed each subject separately. Students must additionally have passed English as a subject of study — core, elective, or functional — in the qualifying examination. There is a provision for 5% relaxation on marks for SC and ST students.

A valid JEE Main 2026 score is mandatory. Admission is conducted through GGSIPU centralised counselling based on JEE Main All India Rank. Merely registering for JEE Main is not sufficient — candidates must also separately register for GGSIPU counselling on ipu.admissions.nic.in.

B.Tech Lateral Entry

Candidates must hold a 3-year Diploma in Engineering from a recognised polytechnic in a relevant branch, with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks. Admission is based on the IPU CET Lateral Entry score conducted by GGSIPU.

Management Quota (10% of Seats)

Admissions for 90% of seats are based on JEE Main rank through GGSIPU counselling. The remaining 10% of seats fall under the Management Quota, where admissions are based on the merit list prepared from aggregate marks obtained in Class XII through institutional counselling. Candidates interested in the management quota can visit the MSIT official website, fill the prescribed application form, and submit their JEE Main scores and academic marks along with a processing fee.
